AFV Register of historical vehicles on display now available for GPS

USA registerFor several years the fine folks at the AFV News and discussion board at Com-Central have hosted a series of AFV Registers. The registers consist of lists of all the tanks and armored vehicles known to be on public display in a particular area in PDF format.  Currently, the areas covered include the USA, Canada, the Netherland, Belgium, France and Poland.  Last week it was announced that USA AFV map & Garmin GPS files of the Registry are available for download.  According to regular board poster “vagabond” – “Over the last 2 years, I’ve been working on making Google Maps broken down by state of the AFVs listed in the USA AFV Register.

I wanted to have every publicly accessible AFV location in my Garmin GPS to facilitate visiting and documenting. I DID NOT include privately owned vehicles (for the most part) and noted as much as I could locations that are not publicly accessible (such as Camp Lejune in NC that is inaccessible to civilians.) I made corrections to the registry entries of address or GPS, SN & RN info and some notations such as noting NG Armory closings to the best of my ability.
The downloads are the KML/KMZ files for Google Earth or Google Maps, the Garmin GPX files (which can be uploaded into a Garmin GPS using the POI loader app) and the Excel files I used to create the maps (Some are generated from KML files so there are 2 slightly different formats on the Excel files.)”

The PDF versions of the Register (all countries) can be downloaded here.

The GPS, Google Earth, Garmin and TomTom format versions of the World and USA register can be downloaded here.
