From the Vault: War Dept. Film Bulletin Videos

Today we bring you a selection of War Dept. Film Bulletin videos from WWII.  These come from the WWII Archive at archive.org.  For those who are not familiar with Archive.org, it is one of the best things about the internet.  It’s really easy to lose track of time while browsing all the old videos and documents they preserve.

We start with War Dept Film Bulletin 3: Tests Of Gun Carriers Etc., 1942.  This clip shows footage of the testing of 37mm anti-tank guns mounted on Jeeps, 75mm guns mounted on halftracks and of a Christie type chassis.

Next is War Dept Film Bulletin 6: Canadian Medium Tank M-3, Etc., 1941 (1941)  This video show footage of a Canadian Ram tank being put through its paces at Aberdeen Proving Ground.


War Dept Film Bulletin 13: Defense Industry, Somewhere USA, restricted (1942) includes footage of testing of an T16 halftrack and of the T32 gun carriage (later to become the M7 Priest).  This footage starts at the 2:28 mark of the video.


War Dept Film Bulletin 38: Seek, Strike, Destroy provides a description of US Tank Destroyer forces.


War Dept Film Bulletin 64: Tank Destroyer: 3″ Gun Motor Carriage M-10, 1943  It is interesting to note that at the beginning of this clip they specifically mention the M-10 as the antidote to the German Mark VI Tiger tank.
